We Did It! - South Downs Way Cycle Challenge Highlights

100 miles. Two wheels. One great cause.

From sun-soaked trails to windswept ridges, this ride had it all.

The team tackled everything from dusty chalk tracks and unforgiving flint paths to bumpy farmers’ fields, endless gates, and winding woodland trails—each stretch bringing its own challenge.

Our South Downs Way journey

What started as a planned 100-mile ride somehow turned into 135 miles… much to James’s dismay!

There were scrapes, bruises, and plenty of aching legs—but also a lot of laughs and memorable moments. One highlight? James being enthusiastically chased by a cow, adding a whole new meaning to "pedal faster!"

Thanks to your incredible generosity—and a 50% donation uplift from Openwork—we’ve already raised around £4,500 (before Gift Aid). We’re hugely grateful for every contribution.

The Openwork Foundation does fantastic work helping vulnerable children and families, including awarding grants to two particular charities that we have nominated (totalling over £45,000) - Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice and AlexTLC.
